Baker students performing You Can’t Take it With You

By Maddie Wallace

Mount Baker Secondary School will be performing the play ‘You Can’t Take It With You’ from November 29 – December 1 at Key City Theatre.

This clever comedy was written by playwrights Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman and won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

This year’s production is directed by Mary Hamilton and showcases some of Baker’s brightest and most hilarious young actors. The cast includes Desiree Lepine, Joelle Winkel, Trevor McGovern, Jayla Toorenburgh, Angus Liedke and various students from grades 10-12 who have been hard at work since early September.

The play tells the story of a rather quirky and unusual family whose hobbies include wild dancing, snake collecting, xylophone playing, play writing and creating fireworks. They spend most of their time at home, but come into contact with the outside world through their daughter Alice.

When Alice falls in love, her endearing, albeit mildly insane family decide to meddle in her love life, which causes some hysterical outcomes.

Tickets are available at Key City Theatre: $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on November 29 and 30 and 2 p.m on. December 1.

This play is sure to provide entertainment for the whole family. “You Can’t Take It With You” is a must see this fall!
