First First Saturday enlivens Platzl

Both sides of Kimberley were alive with community activities recognizing the heritage of the city Saturday, June 1.

While kids were having a blast in Marysville and neighbours caught up over a burger or reportedly amazing pulled pork sandwiches at the Marysville Daze celebration, downtown Kimberley was also alive.

A range of activities were provided from noon to 4 p.m. with buskers, an art market, plein air painters, free kids’ entertainment, face painting and afternoon stories at the library by the City of Kimberley, Kimberley Tourism, Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, Kimberley Arts Council and Centre 64.

The first Saturday of each month is a celebration of Kimberley heritage in the Platzl as the city, business, arts and recreational community work together to add some zing to the downtown.
