IFF presents The Guard Nov. 7
Indie Films Fernie and The Arts Station are getting ready for the special showing of The Guard on Monday, November 7 beginning at 7 p.m. from the Vogue Theatre.
Written and directed John Michael McDonagh, this film has certainly made a lasting impression on the indie film festival circuit this year having been in the official selection for the Los Angeles, Berlin, Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals.
The Guard (Ireland) is a lively and often hilarious Irish crime comedy. Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter series, Troy) stars as an unconventional small-town cop on the West Coast of Ireland who is forced to team up with an FBI Agent (Don Cheadle; Hotel Rwanda, Ocean’s Eleven) when a local murder appears to have connections to a gang of international drug traffickers. A heady blend of absurdity, dark humour, and emotion, The Guard will leave you smiling.
