Holy jumpin’ Jiminy Cricket! The Invermere MusicFest is only days away! Have you got your tickets yet?

If you like music, listen to music, know what music is, or know someone who likes music, this is the festival for you! Occurring down on Kinsmen Beach, surrounded by mountain lake splendor, this event is sure to please everyone, no matter how old or young.

This year’s lineup has been fine tuned and honed to appeal to a wide array of tastes, including our main acts, The Boom Booms, Kelly Lee Evans, River and the Road and The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, will also include a number of local (ish) acts that will play their tunes in front of a supportive and appreciative crowd.

Starting off our valley contingent (at 1 p.m. on the SRL/K2 Stage) will be The Good Ol’ Goats, an alternative folk group hailing from Cranbrook. The Goats (pictured above) are an energetic band of teenagers who bring their own brand of bluegrass alt-folk to the dance floor with infectious rhythms, beautiful acoustic instrumentation, heartfelt melodies and clever lyrics that are unexpectedly mature, nuanced and just plain fun.

Next up on the locals list is Sheberdean, a trio of Edgewater residents who have been playing local festivals and events for a number of years. Described as a group of friends having a hell of a good time finding their sound together, their set at 2 p.m. on the Home Hardware Stage is sure to please and impress.

Looking to impress with decibels, Otters will be taking the Home Hardware Stage over at 6 p.m. Claiming to be the loudest band in the Columbia Valley, Otters promise to play plenty of rock and roll, so bring your dancing shoes and get ready to have a dance off!

Multi-instrumentalists, Dandelions, will be wowing the crowds with their thoughtful arrangements that conjure emotions and the desire to stop and listen, or just dance to the music. The group has been known to put on exciting and memorable performances that can include 10-12 different instruments at a time! Dandelions take the Home Hardware Stage at 8:15 p.m.

Last but not least, Emaline Delapaix is an Australian singer, composer and musician who lives between rural Western Canada and Germany with her big orange cat Reece. She spends a lot of time writing odd folk pop for piano, acoustic guitar and harp and sometimes whatever else she has lying about the place. Some say she sounds a little like Kate Bush or Tori Amos, but she also loves a lot of Scandinavian music: music that invokes the weather like storms and warm sunsets. Do NOT miss her show at 3:45 p.m. on the Home Hardware Stage, or you WILL regret it.

So if you have been paying attention, then you will undoubtedly know that Invermere is about to be hit with a musical meteor, and you only have a couple days left to get your ticket and take the ride!
