Nazareth playing Cranbrook July 9

Legendary Scottish rockers Nazareth will be knocking off whatever dust is left on the rafters of the Cranbrook Curling Club following BC/DC’s raucous sets last weekend when they perform July 9.

nazinsideNazareth emerged in the late 1960s from Scotland to become one of the top-selling arena rock attractions of the 1970s, with their signature hard riffing, almost heavy metal sound.

While the power ballad Love Hurts ranks as their best-known hit, Nazareth’s contribution to the rock ‘n’ roll classic cupboard include the screaming party tune Razamanaz, the iconic electric bagpipe thump of Hair of the Dog, the epic remake of Joan Baez’s This Flight Tonight and other hits such as Bad Bad Boy, Woke Up This Morning, Broken Down Angel, Go Down Fighting and Shanghaid in Shanghai.

Two members of the band’s original line-up make up the current four-man roster, including vocalist Dan McCafferty and bassist Pete Agnew. On lead guitar is Jimmy Murrison (once of Trouble in Doggieland) and on drums is Pete’s son Lee Agnew.

Sponsored by Bridge Interiors and the Drive 102.9,
tickets are now on sale and are available at Bridge Interiors – 125 Slater Road, Cranbrook, or online at ticketweb.ca
.

Showtime is 8 p.m. This is a 19-and-up show.
