Pynelogs still a great deal for artists

Have you checked out the latest show at Pynelogs Cultural Centre yet? No? Well get your art-loving self down here before it’s too late! We have one of the most eclectic shows in the history of the gallery on display, featuring 38 artists from up and down the valley.

It seems many people still don’t know just how much their patronage means to the Columbia Valley Arts Council. Did you know that Pynelogs takes less commission from their featured artists than most of the other private galleries you visit? Did you know that because it is a not for profit organization you can get a break from the taxman? This means that when you buy a work of art from us, you not only put more money back into the pockets of local artists, but you become one of the driving forces behind the continuation of CV Arts.

Becoming a member is easy as well. We have membership forms available, and for a nominal fee you could be a direct contributor to the success of CV Arts. As well, we will be drawing one current member’s name this summer and the winner will receive a trip to Tinhorn Creek Vineyards in the Okanagan.

So hurry down to the greatest beachside art gallery in town and check out the myriad of artwork we have on display. And if a little historical drama is what the doctor ordered, Wildsight will be presenting a short multimedia historical enactment by Shirley Truscott from Banff.

Truscott will be performing Mary Schaffer, Mountain Woman, a portrait of one of the more important females figures in this area’s history. Schaffer was a Quaker naturalist, floral artist, photographer, and writer who first visited Banff in 1889, just as it was being discovered by the outer world. Although she initially came as a tourist, repeated visits convinced her to give up her privileged position in eastern US society and immigrate to a mountain haven that touched her soul.

The performance takes place on June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Pynelogs. Tickets are $10 and are available at Pynelogs and The Book Bar.
