Robert Bruce presents Faust

The Arts Station’s Concert Series Season of 2011/ 2012 is well underway and is being turned up a notch with the musical and visual stylings of composer Robert Bruce on Monday, October 24 at 8 p.m.

Since the 1970s, Bruce began to develop his long list of accomplishments in the world of piano and composition.  His personal archive of original work has been used in varying degrees entertainment and education.  From children’s music to formal piano exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music and even for healing and meditation purposes, Bruce’s lifelong passion for music has affected pianists young and old.

His music, often displaying subtle blues-impressionistic elements in its basic language, is harmonically tonal but its true character has defied all existing genres and categories; he has termed his overall style and genre, as well as his performing ensemble, ‘Classical Nouveau.’

Faust is perhaps Bruce’s most striking in terms of the synergy between music and film; having a deep and haunting effect. His vision of Murnau’s classic 1926 silent film was the closing program for the 2011 Toronto Silent Film Festival and is bound to please both music and film enthusiasts alike.
