To Visually Touch opening at The Art Station Jan. 28
Live, breathe art!
From its temperate rain forests and towering mountains to its endless shorelines and flowing rivers, Vancouver Island’s breathtaking scenery and tranquility have played muse to many artists hailing from the area. Christine Simpson, now of Kimberley, is one those fortunate enough to have been raised in such an exquisite part of our province which adds to the reason it is referred to as nothing less than ‘Beautiful British Columbia.’
The depth of inspiration she has attributed from nature shines through in her work. This self taught artist is no stranger to incorporating various materials into her work, such as, tree resin, bone and other unusual elements. Using organic shapes and vivid colours add to the appeal of her work and distinguish her pieces from other artists while making them interesting to look at by both accomplished artists and novices.
Her exhibit in the gallery will take the viewer on “a journey of work created from the artist’s reactions to life and nature, a visual feast of mixed media, landscapes, body prints and a few surprises.”
The opening reception for the show is Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. at The Art Station and the show runs until Tuesday, Feb. 28.
