BC Hydro donates $3,600 to the Blue Lake Forest Education Society
BC Hydro is again contributing $3,600 to Blue Lake Forest Education Society. The funding this year will assist Cranbrook and area youth to attend leadership summer camp and the Outdoor Youth Leadership School (OYLS) taking place this summer at the Blue Lake Centre located west of Canal Flats. The training objectives this year are leadership and teamwork skill development including a focus on environmental stewardship and social skills development.
The programs also encourage ecological awareness and foster social responsibility to the environment – and to one another. Participants will take part in a seven day outdoor leadership program. They will be exposed to new ideas and creative approaches on how to communicate effectively, risk manage, collaborate, problem solve & think critically, build self esteem and encourage others.
BC Hydro supports the development of youth and education through its Donations & Sponsorships program. Skills developed from valuable community programs such as OYLS and summer camp are instrumental in the development of future leaders in our communities.
BC Hydro’s Community Investment programs provide support to community-based, non-profit organizations, registered charities and First Nations who are active in one of our key funding areas: Environment Sustainability, Community Leadership, Youth and Lifestyle, and align with business objectives.
