Dozen teams take part in Amazing Race
The first Amazing Race Cranbrook was held Sept. 30 with a dozen three-person teams taking part.
Participants, decked out in matching red t-shirts, received their first clue and introduction at the Cranbrook and District Chamber of Commerce office, setting off a frenetic clue-solving and task performing frenzy at six different city businesses.

The first stop was at Key City Theatre where participants had to recite a poetic/town-crier style message about small businesses, an homage to Small Business Week Oct. 1 to 7. The winning team(s) were the combined two teams from the East Kootenay SPCA.
From there it was a short hop to Sweet Gestures where a gift basket had to be created and chocolates needed to be memorized and matched.

The third stop was an editing exercise at the Cranbrook Daily Townsman, leading to a dash to JJ’s Laundry Depot to fold fitted bed sheets, perhaps the most challenging of tasks.
The fifth location was Home Hardware where participants matched nuts and bolts before barreling across the tracks and up to the Industrial Park to Gipman Millwork and Design where tiles had to be matched before a charge to the finish at Rocky Mountain Collision on Cobham Road where prizes, food and drinks and a Chamber of Commerce Business After Business event was held.

The winning team of the first Amazing Race were the colourfully coiffed threesome from East Kootenay Community Credit Union.
