Fernie Brewing to be part of provincial variety pack
Fernie Brewing Company has joined forces this month to bring a new variety pack to the shelves.
Developed by The BC Craft Brewers’ Guild, the new 12 can pack and 12 bottle pack are sitting proud, bringing together a number of award-winning and popular Craft Breweries. Fernie First Trax Brown features in the 12 can pack, alongside five other contrasting products. Tree Brewing, instrumental in the development of these new packs, released the following last week.
October and beer have gone hand in hand for years, but 2011 marks the first time that Craft beers in British Columbia are getting official recognition for it. October has been declared Craft Beer Month by Her Majesty the Queen via the Province of British Columbia, and the BC Craft Brewers Guild have come together to mark the occasion. Twelve packs of cans and bottles featuring six different craft beers in each pack will be on shelves throughout the month, showcasing the quality and diversity of the province’s best brews.
According to the Proclamation issued by the Attorney General, “the month of October will feature a celebration of craft beer by British Columbia’s craft breweries with beer tastings, beer maker dinners, craft beer festivals, brewery tours, beer and cheese pairings taking place throughout the province, and was heralded by the 18th annual Great Canadian Beer Festival, September 9 and 10, an event that drew more than 7,000 beer lovers to Victoria and provided an economic boost estimated at $500,000 for the local economy.
The 12 can pack will include Naramata Nut Brown Ale, Red Racer IPA, High Country Kolsch, Race Rocks Ale, Russell Cream Ale and Fernie First Trax Brown Ale. The beers showcased in the 12 bottle pack are Blue Buck, Sea Dog Amber Ale, Powder Mountain Lager, Dead Frog Nut Brown Ale, Hop Head IPA and Blackheart Organic Oatmeal Stout.
“We’re really excited about this first consumer initiative for the BC Craft Brewers Guild,” says BC Craft Brewers Guild Chair, Tod Melnyk. “The craft beer market continues to grow in British Columbia and this BC Craft Pack truly brings our brewers together and boasts the incredible variety of beers we’ve created.”
The BC Liquor Board is also supporting the BC Craft Brewers and this first of its kind offering with 60 store displays across the province. The BC Craft Packs are now available in BC Liquor Stores and Private stores across BC for $22.95 and are set to be a popular winter feature.
About the BC Craft Brewers Guild – In 1997, a group of BC Craft Brewers got together for the purpose of establishing a non-profit, cooperative trade organization committed to the promotion of the Craft Brewing Industry through legislation, education, public awareness, and the responsible use of our products. This Craft Pack is the first of its kind and Fernie Brewing Company hope that as a member of such a strong and diverse craft brewing group, this will be the first of many collaborative products moving forwards.
