Ideas a-plenty at Green Building Conference
The Green Builders Showcase/Conference in Kimberley this past weekend was jam-packed with state-of-the-art discussions and presentations surrounding sustainable building that benefits the environment, as well as people’s pocketbooks and peace of mind.
The March 2/3 gathering at Kimberley’s Conference and Athlete Training Centre, also featured 25 relevant exhibitors showcasing products and services that are available to builders and consumers.
Green building examples ranged from entire facilities designed to operate sustainably, to something as brilliant simple as (pictured) a living wall/divider, courtesy Vertical Oxygen, that allows one to grow food/herbs or other forms of plants and help clean the air, all while creating walls or dividers in rooms.
Friday’s keynote speaker, Chris Turner, was a hit with conference attendees. Turner is one of Canada’s leading writers and speakers on sustainability and the global ‘cleantech’ industry. He is the author of The Leap: How to Survive and Thrive in the Sustainable Economy, among other works.
