Kootenay Leadership hosting Collaboration Event

The Kootenay Leadership Institute is hosting a Collaboration Event (Building Your Skills and Success) on Feb. 10 at a Cranbrook location yet to be announced.

The half day workshop (1 to 5 p.m.) is designed to bring together and engage Kootenay leaders who strive for greater achievements for their business, organization and region.

Key participants would be:

∗ Aiming to move beyond a command and control or competitive approach to leadership;

∗ Interested in discovering a style of distributed leadership that leverages the talents, abilities and creativity of those in their organization or business to unleash a healthier, more vibrant, innovative and productive way of operating;

∗ Interested in a process of sharing and leveraging their existing knowledge, experience and expertise for the purposes of creating a shared future that is greater than what one leader is able to create on his or her own.

∗ Ready to step up to the next level of leadership and build collaborative business relationships.

David Savage
David Savage

David Savage is a professional coach, speaker and negotiator. David specializes in executive and organizational coaching, conflict management, negotiation, collaboration, public consultation and leadership. David is founder and President of Savage Management Ltd., Think Sustain Ability Consultants, and The Collaborative Global Initiative. Clients include executives and organizations involved in oil and gas, community, renewable energy, law, resort management, aboriginal development, conflict management, not for profits and primary health care.

Since graduating with a BA (Economics) degree from the University of Calgary in 1975, David has been successful in the Canadian petroleum industry and a recognized leader in the areas of negotiation, conflict management, stakeholder engagement, leadership, collaboration and business development. Between 1996 and 2006, David, with others, started, built and sold four junior oil and gas companies. Since 2007, David’s focus has been on coaching, negotiation and organizational development. Savage’s upcoming 2014 book is One Yes: Ten Steps to Essential Collaboration. His co-shared book, Ready Aim Excel: 52 Leadership Lessons, is an inter- national business bestseller on Amazon. Laura Hummelle, MA, Conflict Analysis and Management, BA, Psychology and Sociology and Certified Prosci Change Management Practitioner is owner and principal consultant of Ahead of the Curve Consulting.

Laura has recently returned to Kimberley to embark upon her vision of establishing Centers of Excellence in Collaboration, Change Management and Leadership. Laura is an organization development strategist whose service to clients draws upon a 30 year career which has focused on large scale transformational change related to change in legislation, policy, programs and practice at the federal, provincial, regional and municipal levels of government as well private sector change projects and initiatives including nation-wide information technology projects.

Laura’s success is based on her knowledge and understanding that long-term sustainability of change is built on a collaborative systems approach where stakeholders are co-creators and co-implementers of the design and implementation of the change.

The Kootenay Leadership Institute is an organic, evolutionary collaborative that connects, serves, mentors, educates, challenges and celebrates leaders and leadership in the Kootenay’s of British Columbia. The Institute has the potential to contribute to positive change in local communities, the Kootenays and beyond…through nurturing principled, collaborative leaders.
