Do you make things? Are you innovative and not scared of technology? Do you want to run your small business better? If you said ‘yes’ to any of these questions, KRIC can help. And you get beer.

“Yeah, we’re enticing people to our networking events with free beer,” said Tara Penner, Project Manager with the Kootenay Rockies Innovation Council.

“We’re hosting these events to bring people together around the common purpose of being more successful as entrepreneurs.”

Penner said network building has been shown to be a key factor in business success, and so KRIC and its several economic development partners will be on hand for informal chats, including the Basin Business Advisors, Invest Kootenay and the National Research Council.

“You can ask us anything from how we can help, to how others have benefited from our programs or how you can connect with the resources you need.”

One caveat: The only people in line for a free drink ticket will be those who register online. “The events are free,” Penner said, “but we are splashing out a little, thanks to our sponsors, and we’d like to know how many people might drop in.”

Penner said Business and Beer events are ultra-casual and super fun. “There will be very brief presentations starting at 5:30 p.m.,” she said. “You’ll hear from a successful entrepreneur about their experience starting and growing a business in the Kootenays, and about some of the programs available to help your small business succeed.”

The events are as follows

FERNIE: Business & Beer, Friday, October 3 from 5-7 p.m., (Park Place Lodge);

CRANBROOK: Business & Beer, Tuesday, October 7 from 5-7 p.m., (Baker Salon at the Prestige Hotel);

INVERMERE: Wednesday, October 8 from 5-7 p.m., (Rocky River Grill).

There is no charge to attend, however RSVPs are requested via KRIC’s website. Visit KRIC Business and Beer for links to each community event. Drinks and food will be available for purchase.
