CFUW joins international campaign to stop rape and gender violence
The Canadian Federation of University Women in Cranbrook and all across Canada are excited to share news with you about the launch of an ‘International Campaign to Stop Rape and Gender Violence in Conflict’ with a week of action May 6-13.
The National office of CFUW in Ottawa said, “We at CFUW are thrilled to be a member of the first ever collaboration between Nobel Peace Laureates, international advocacy organizations, and groups working at the regional and community levels in conflict areas to stop rape.”
The campaign will demand urgent and bold political leadership to:
*prevent rape in conflict,
*to protect civilians, and rape survivors,
*call for justice for all, and
*effective prosecution of those responsible for the rapes and gender violence.
The Cranbrook Club of the CFUW encourages all readers to visit the campaign on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date on campaign actions. “We also encourage all Canadian citizens to sign onto the campaign as an individual by visiting https://nobelwomensinitiative.org/internationalcampaign-to-stop-rape-and-gender-violence-in-conflict/,” said Cathryn Henley, President of the Cranbrook Club of the Canadian Federation of University Women. “Our club always welcomes new members with an interest to help women and children in your community. Please visit our website at www.cfuw-cranbrook.com for all the many issues are involved with locally, nationally, and internationally,” said Henley. “We are also on Facebook,” she added.
