COTR alive with science
College of the Rockies has been alive with science the past two days (Feb. 22/23).
The school gymnasium and nearby hallways, as well as the beautiful grand entrance, was filled with students taking part in the annual East Kootenay Science Fair. Today, Feb. 23, was the Non Competitive Fair for Grades K-6, while young scientists from Grades 6 to 12 took part in the fair yesterday.
Additionally, bus loads of students from around the region visited the fair Wednesday.
A myriad of colourful and sometimes downright clever displays showed off the minds of our future scientists and thinkers, with exhibits ranging from the good old standby volcano, to the utilization of fruits and vegetables for power, health and hygiene, wildlife, physics, chemistry and much more on display.
Adding to the fair’s appeal were exhibit booths set up in the school hallways and grand entrance, offering youngsters, and college students, looks at how science is used in the work place and elsewhere.
