Darned good news!
A Columbia Valley man who had little to no chance to ever walk again after suffering a major stroke has been invited to take part in the upcoming 25th Anniversary Rick Hansen Relay – and he’s going to do it on his feet.
Norman Gagatek recieved a phone March 26 from Rick Hansen’s office asking him to participate in the relay coming through Invermere on April 13.
“He is encouraged to invite as many friends, family, and supporters to come out and walk with him. Yes, that’s right, he will be walking his leg of the relay,” joyfully exclaimed Gagatek’s wife Kimberley Harris. “What a great way to celebrate Norm and all he has accomplished since his devastating stroke in 2008! He is obviously humbled and honored to be a part of this Canadian historic event. So come out and join us and all the other medal bearers to celebrate local heroes,” she stated.
