East Kootenay Science Fair returns Feb. 22/23
Registration deadline is Feb. 15
One of the biggest science fairs in British Columbia is returning to Cranbrook’s College of the Rockies (COTR) Feb. 22/23, when the Kootenay Science Fair sets up residence.
The theme for this year is ‘Engineering and Geo-Science.’
“This means that our Science Celebration, that runs alongside the fair, will have various exhibits and sessions emphasizing careers/industries in engineering and geo-science. Projects can be a study/innovation or experiment,” explained COTR’s Sandi Lavery.
Volunteers and judges are still needed by fair organizers. If you are interested please contact Dr. David Dick at the college.
The two-day fair opens Wednesday, Feb. 22 with the Competitive Fair for Grades 6-12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Projects are judged.
Feb 23 is the Non Competitive Fair for Grades K-6, again running from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Special awards will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. (ie. scholarships and CWSF recipients). Keynote Speaker is Amy Stevenson from BC Hydro.
The cost to enter the fair is $15 for one full day of science judging/sharing/exhibits/sessions (includes T-shirt). Registration is through www.ekrsf.ca <https://www.ekrsf.ca/, and must be completed by February15.
