JCI Kootenay hosting Santa Claus Parade again

The 41st Annual Santa Claus Parade is planned for Friday, November 25 at 7 p.m. in downtown Cranbrook.

JCI Kootenay is again planning the event to coincide with the Downtown Cranbrook holiday light-up in conjunction with Christmas In the Rockies. Parade assembly will begin at 6 p.m. and will begin its procession down Baker Street at 7 p.m.

Headline Sponsors include Northstar GM and The Bedroom Furniture Galleries. Net proceeds of the event will go to the Cranbrook Food Bank.

This year’s theme is “Curling” to coincide with our cities hosting of the Canada Cup of Curling 2011. Be a sport and get creative with your entry!

The float entry deadline is November 24. The entry fee for the parade is by donation and the minimum donation is $75 or more for Businesses and $35 or more for non-profit organizations. Cheques can be made payable to JCI Kootenay.

Everyone is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the Cranbrook Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off at the The Drive FM’s Boom Box which will be stationed on Baker Street. Christmas Song Books will also be available at the Boom Box.

Hot chocolate and hot cider will be served at The Bedroom Furniture Galleries, East Kootenay Realty Insurance and various other downtown Cranbrook businesses.

After the parade, don’t forget about the Light up in Rotary Park! Please make your way down 10th Avenue after the parade and join the crowd in Christmas carolling. The light up of Rotary park will take place between 7:45 and 8:15 p.m.

JCI Kootenay is a leadership and development group for individuals between the ages of 18 and 40. JCI Kootenays goal is to develop the best young leaders in the East Kootenays. The group conducts monthly training and hosts social networking events. Other events hosted by JCI Kootenay include the Sam Steele Ball Tournament, All Candidates Forums, and Wine, Stein & Dine. JCI Kootenay meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Chamber of Commerce office. They are affiliated with JCI Canada and Junior Chamber International. Worldwide, JCI has over 200,000 members.
