Remembering Tobias
Invermere’s Pothole Park came alive with bursting splashes of colour of childrens’ activities Saturday, July 23.
It was a fitting memorial for a sweet two-year-old child, Tobias McLaughlin, who drowned at Cartwright Lake earlier this year.
Several hundred people, more than half of them children, stepped away from the Visitor Appreciation Day activities on 13th Avenue, to add another fun, activity-filled event for Invermere on its busiest weekend of the year.
Invermere Fire-Rescue members attended and kept kids enthralled with a fire hose shooting game and dunk tank, while face painters, musicians, magicians and dancers had kids and adults enthused and taking part.
Along with the entertainment, the Childrens’ Festival, which ran from noon to 4 p.m., featured snack and drink vendors and plenty of games and crafts and costumes for the kids to dive into.
Sales of a $1 bracelet that declared ‘Forever in our hearts’ for Tobias, went toward helping with costs of the free festival.
