Cranbrook Public Library and BC Hydro Promote Home Energy Efficiency with new “Heat Vision” Program

To celebrate the start of fall, the Cranbrook Public Library, with a community grant from BC Hydro, is excited to announce the launch of Heat Vision. This program allows library members to borrow a FLIR thermal imaging camera and use it with their smart phone to see how well their home is insulated and sealed.

Heat Vision launches on Friday, September 20 at 1:30 pm with an energy conservation workshop presented by BC Hydro’s Community Outreach & Education Team, followed by a demonstration by Library staff of how the FLIR camera works.

The goal of this program is to help build energy literacy in the community, and to promote the betterhomesbc.ca website, which is a one-stop-shop for information on available rebates from the utilities and various levels of government for homeowners interested in improving the energy efficiency of their homes. Not only will increased energy efficiency save homeowners money and improve the comfort of their homes, it will help to advance our community’s climate change efforts.

The Energy Conversation Workshop takes place on Friday, September 20th, from 1:30 to 3:00 pm in the Manual Training School at the Cranbrook Public Library, at 1212 2nd Street North. The first 25 people to register for the workshop receive a free draft-proofing kit that includes weather stripping and outlet insulation pads.
