Mentoring, youth and community programs are getting $133,000 in Community Gaming Grants from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

“These grants are an investment in one of our communities’ greatest assets – our young people,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett. “Through mentoring and youth programs, prime time after school programs, supporting families in need, sharing the experience of our great outdoors, and building a strong connected community, these dedicated organizations will continue to make a positive impact in our community.”

Community Gaming Grants allow non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues. In Fiscal year 2012/13, our government distributed a total of $135 million in gaming grants for eligible community programs and services. Approximately 5,300 community groups benefited from funding during 2012/13.
