A suspicious vehicle leads to theft charges

Around 2:30 a.m. on July 16 a woman reported a suspicious vehicle in the alley of 27th Ave S in Cranbrook. A short time later a male was arrested with a stolen quad.

Upon receiving the report police attended the area and found the truck. The licence plates were not only expired but did not fit the description of the vehicle. The officer also noted break in tools. He saw there were quad ramps set out and suspected a quad theft in progress and he called for backup.

A short time later a quad was heard coming down the street, upon seeing the police car the driver turned into a yard, jumped off and began to run. Police located the male as he ran back to the pickup truck.
Police determined where the quad came from and a 37-year-old Cranbrook male is now facing charges of Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.
