Abandoned vehicle plundered of valuables
Cranbrook RCMP was advised of a theft that occurred some time between November 10 and 12.
A hunter was travelling somewhere near the 19-kilometre mark of Boulder Creek Forest Service Road when his vehicle broke down.
The hunter packed out what he could on foot, but ended up leaving some rather expensive items behind in the vehicle.
The vehicle was left blocking most of the roadway. It is believed at some point on November 11, one or more persons found the broken down vehicle, and decided to steal its contents. Some items taken include:
– Green Swarovski Binoculars valued at $2,500;
– Husqvarna 353 Chainsaw with a 20″ bar;
– Laser Range finder.
At present the RCMP have no suspects to this crime.
As it is hunting season, there were likely people in the area who saw the vehicle blocking the road or who have personal knowledge of the event. Cranbrook RCMP is requesting public assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible.
It is requested that any person having information on this theft call the Cranbrook RCMP, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
