About 90 attend detachment open house

The Columbia Valley RCMP detachment hosted an open house at their Invermere crossroads facility, Thursday, May 24, with about 90 residents of all ages attending.

“I would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers who helped out with the open house,” said S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac.

The event featured police dog demonstrations courtesy Cpl. Phil Sullivan (fully grown and puppy), ATV rides, tours of the detachment, including the dreaded cells, interestingly and colourfully decorated with art from local Grade 3 students, and a beef on a bun dinner with all the tasty accoutrements.

“Many thanks to Windermere Lions Club for hosting the beef on the bun dinner and printing the kids.  Also thanks to Tim Horton’s for supplying the police food and drinks, Canadian Tire and Home Hardware for the prizes. Our thanks to our Restorative Justice volunteers for also sponsoring this event. To all the Grade 3 kids in the Valley, thanks for the posters,” Shehovac stated.
