Amber alert remains as search for Kienan continues
Elk Valley RCMP, extra investigators from other detachments, search and rescue personnel and a small army of volunteers continue to search the Sparwood area and further afield for three-year-old Kienan Hebert who disappeared from his home Sept. 7.
“In addition to police efforts to locate Mr. Hopley, local search and rescue personnel are actively searching for any sign of Kienan. We are fully pursuing every option and theory that will result in locating and safely returning him to his family,” reported Cpl. Dan Moskaluk, RCMP Media Relations Officer. “We are asking people with recreation properties in the area to visit them and check to see if there is anything suspicious, and if there is, to contact police.”
Elk Valley RCMP also issued an alternate photo of suspected abductor Randall Hopley in the hope that it will help to locate him.
Moskaluk said that people should be looking for signs of forced entry, missing or stolen items and indications that people have been using the property or the grounds.
“People know their property and know what is normal. If something appears to be out of place and wrong then they should contact their local police,” he said.
Police are also confirming that investigators are currently conducting a search of Hopley’s residence.
Kienan, three, the youngest of eight siblings, has short red hair and was wearing ‘Scooby Doo’ cartoon boxer shorts and may be carrying up to three blankets with him.
Randall Peter Hopley, 46, is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 5’ 10” and weighs 147 lbs. Police are also searching for Hopley’s vehicle described as a brown 1987 Toyota Camry, with a B.C. license plate 098 RAL.
If anyone has seen Kienan Hebert, Randall Hopley or his vehicle they are asked to call 9-1-1.
An outpouring of emotional public support also continues, as regional residents express their hopes and prayers for the Hebert family and wee Kienan.
A candle light vigil was held in Sparwood and last night in Cranbrook, a steady stream of well-wishers passed through Rotary Park to place candles and lights at a vigil held between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. (Pictured)
