As a result of a number of thefts from vehicles in the Radium Hot Springs area, information was provided to Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment, via the Golden Detachment, of stolen property that may be at a residence located in the 7300 block of Copper Horn Drive. Columbia Valley Detachment members obtained a search warrant and executed it at the residence in question. An adult female is charged with one count of possession of stolen property while a 25-year-old male is charged with 13 offences of possession of stolen property including a stolen vehicle. Two other stolen vehicles were recovered.
As a result of the property recovered the 25-year-old male identified as David Stickney, residing in Radium at the time, was remanded to appear in Golden provincial court March 12. Stickney was sentenced to one year in prison.
Further property including a computer, watch and ring were recovered along with a number of cell phones. Detachment members will be going over the numerous articles in the hopes of matching them to owners who recently were victims to thefts from vehicles. Police are aware of many of the owners and they are being contacted. Keep your doors locked. Amazing to see what valuable items were stolen from unlocked cars. Numerous computer memory sticks included.

What are we going to do with our youth?
Over the week I was able to take in the battle of the Bands with David Thompson Secondary School band and the visiting Idaho Band. Great sound. Conductor, Mr Opus, Greg Constable. Listened to the Silver Strings conducted by Lisa at the Legion, and took in the Figure Skating clubs year end program. What impressed me watching the figure skaters was obviously the talent, but how the older kids took care of the much younger children. Younger kids have someone to look up to and work to the next level. It is amazing to see Cail Elford keep all the girls in line. You will find that will be harder to do as you get older Cail.
Also took in Columbia Valley Atoms team at a tournament in Golden where they took home some hardware. I made good friends with one of the Atom players, Jonathon Postlewthwaite. Reason we became good friends is I worked the visitor’s penalty box and had numerous, and I mean numerous lengthy chats with him in the box. Kid’s going to be a good hockey player or he‵s going to do jail time! Going to have to take Jonathon to the next figure skating session. What do you think, travel and hang with a bunch of smelly hockey players or travel and hang with a bunch of good looking girls? His answer will tell me how many concussions he’s already had. Hats off to all the adults involved.
Every now and then we police have to be reminded of the majority of youths out there that we may not often interact with.
Update on floor hockey
No games last week. However, I should respond to the boy’s elegant response in last week’s paper. Probably took the whole team with the help of the English teacher to develop a response. I feel I should comment back on behalf of the detachment team. In particular, I respond to: “the males on the team (your team) have one thing on their mind: hockey!” The other quote from the boys, ‟we have hockey not as a part of our lives, but as a way of living. “That pretty much sums up the difference in generations. Listen and grasp carefully boys. We cops, while in high school, had one thing on our minds, girls, not hockey. Girls were a part of our lives and a way of living, not hockey. And, that should answer your last question when you state, ‟How do they have wives?” That is your lesson of the day. Class dismissed. Now I know why they don’t have dates.
Have to go to Grad and see which of his teammates Sage is going to take. And also, yes I agree, Grant blew it for us, but he will make amends. It is also hard to accept criticism from a guy who drives a pink car!
Tuesday, Mar 13: RCMP 5- DTSS boys 1 (one little ole goal). Cpl. Simpson makes a comeback. RCMP 5 DTSS boys 1. Sorry, fingers slipped, must have repeated by mistake.
