Bomb threat closes Cranbrook Safeway

Cranbrook Safeway and the immediate area was closed to the public at about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon (Dec. 18) after a bomb threat was received.
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services and City Public Works employees cordoned off the access points to the Safeway and Cranbrook RCMP searched the store.
Students were kept inside Mount Baker Secondary School located across the street from the store.
Access was restored to the store at about 4 p.m.
A similar incident allegedly occurred in Castlegar today, according to social media, and there was a bomb threat at a Safeway in Prince Rupert on Dec. 3.
And Salmon Arm’s Shuswap Middle School was evacuated yesterday because of a bomb threat.
More details will be provided when available.
