Budget consult comes to region Monday

The all-party Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will be holding a public hearing in Cranbrook on the upcoming provincial budget on Monday, Sept. 30.

The hearing will run from 1-5 p.m. at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort.

Each fall, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services holds province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget. The consultations begin in September with the release of the budget consultation paper by the Minister of Finance. The committee is required to report on the results of the consultations by Nov. 15.

British Columbians are invited to participate by attending one of 17 community public hearings, by sending a written, video or audio submission, or by completing an online survey.

To make a submission or to learn more about the work of the committee, please visit the committee’s website at: www.leg.bc.ca/cmt/finance

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, Oct. 16. The committee will release its report by Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.
