CFES contains apartment blaze
At approximately 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 an apartment fire broke out at Parkview Manor at 1504-1st Street South.
Three fire fighters and one engine arrived on scene to find the fire had engulfed one of the lower suites. The building was evacuated and the fire was extinguished by Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services (CFES). A total of 21 fire fighters ended up attending the blaze along with two fire apparatus.
The people occupying the building were evacuated to the Heritage Inn by firefighters.
CFES reports there was minor damage to the basement area. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The city reports that the apartment building’s fire alarm system was activated, notifying the tenants of the blaze.
There were no injuries to any tenants or fire fighters.
