A 10-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being assaulted in Invermere last Sunday night.

At 9:13 p.m. May 17, police responded to an initial complaint of an attempted break and enter in the 1400 block of 15th Avenue.

Shortly after a second call was received of the same male assaulting a 10-year-old boy on 15th Ave. A 28-year-old male was located in the area and arrested. The 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries to his hand and was taken to Invermere and District Hospital.

The 28-year-old male from Invermere who was arrested at the scene has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, attempt break and enter and uttering threats to the police, reported S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac of the Columbia Valley RCMP Detachment.
