Church changing to place of worship
The City of Kimberley is changing a definition in a zoning bylaw that will replace “church” with “place of worship,” with an accompanying definition.
Bylaw No. 2463 will also include amendments to the P-1 zone (Public Institution Zone).
The proposed bylaw changes note:“Place of Worship means a building, structure, or part thereof, which is primarily used for the practice of religion and faith‐based spiritual purposes wherein people assemble for religious worship, faith‐based teaching, fellowship and community social outreach. Accessory uses include, but are not limited to, classrooms for religious instruction, programs for community social benefit, administrative offices related to the place of worship, and one dwelling unit.
“The reason for the amendment is to define a place of worship and permitted accessory uses.”
A Public Hearing for Bylaw No. 2463 will be held on Tuesday, February 12, at 6:45 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 340 Spokane Street, Kimberley.
You may inspect Bylaw No. 2463, Bylaw No. 1850 and the supporting documentation at City Hall, 340 Spokane Street, Kimberley, B.C. weekdays, except statutory holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
