City hosting DCC open house
The City of Cranbrook is hosting a public open house Thursday, June 21 to allow the public a chance to get up to speed on Development Cost Charges (DCCs).
The city is currently reviewing its current DCC rates and is contemplating changes to them.
“Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are a common means of financing growth‐related infrastructure. They are one‐time charges that local governments can levy on new subdivision and building at the time of approval to assist in financing the cost of upgrading or providing off‐site infrastructure to support new development,” notes the city’s website.
“The DCC update is a comprehensive analysis of development related transportation, sewer and drainage infrastructure in the City of Cranbrook and represents a combined program cost of approximately $164 million in development-related infrastructure improvements over the next 20 years.”
The opening house is from 4 -7 p.m. at the Manual Training Centre, 1212 2nd Street North.
