Cougar presence closes trail
A cougar frequenting an area of Kootenay National Park near Radium Hot Springs has forced National Park staff to enforce a closure for public safety.
Citing subsection 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, Kootenay Park officials have closed the Juniper Trail, located in Redstreak Canyon. The closure covers the Juniper Trail from Highway 93, including the Aquacourt Trail between the West Gate trailhead and Redstreak Campground.
The area between Highway 93 south and adjacent sidewalk and the Aquacourt trail between Radium Hot Springs Pools and Redstreak Campground remains open. Please check above map for clearer details.
