Cranbrook Conversation results compiled in report

In early 2014, the Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments (AKBLG) decided to carry out a collaborative project on community engagement.

They wished to pilot this approach in three Kootenay and Boundary communities of different sizes, and the Village of Fruitvale, the City of Grand Forks and the City of Cranbrook volunteered to be pilot communities.

On March 13, the AKBLG coordinated and conducted the event ‘Cranbrook Conversation’ – which provided Cranbrook residents with an opportunity to explore and discuss a number of local issues in a roundtable format.

Items up for discussion included: what key municipal issues the public wanted to see explored in 2014; what information residents wanted to see about those key issues identified and how to engage the community in the municipal election on November 15.

Cranbrook City Council April 28 agreed to have the report added to the city website and via a request from Coun. Gerry Warner, a printed copy is available for review at city hall.

A copy of the final report is available here for the information for those who attended the event and those who wish to find out more.

The report was prepared and provided by the Association of Kootenay and Boundary Local Governments (AKBLG).
