Cranbrook groups get community gaming grants
Two organizations in Cranbrook have received $21,000 in community gaming grants from the B.C. government.
The Wycliffe Exhibition Association is receiving $15,000 for the Cranbrook Pro Rodeo (pictured above) and the B.C. Seniors Games Society – Zone 7 is getting $6,000 for the B.C. Seniors Games.
“These organizations make a great contribution to our community and make life more enjoyable for residents,” Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett said. “Whether you’re watching rodeo riders or you’re a senior who continues to live out your sports dreams, these kinds of events are very important to an active community like Cranbrook.”
About $7 million in grants is being distributed this month to approximately 200 sport and arts and culture groups around the province.
The community gaming grant program allows non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues to support direct delivery of a program that benefits the broader community.
