Cranbrook keeping fluoride
The City of Cranbrook will continue to add fluoride to city water after voters narrowly opted to inform city hall that they don’t support a proposed bylaw that would eliminate the practice.
A total of 2,794 voters said ‘no’ to the Nov. 15 referendum question: “Are you in favour of Council adopting City of Cranbrook Cease Fluoridation Bylaw No. 3799, 2014, which authorizes stopping the addition of fluoride to the municipal water supply effective January 1, 2015?”
Meanwhile, 2,473 voters voted ‘yes’ in the Water Fluoridation Assent Vote.
Of 5,267 votes, 53% voted to keep fluoride in city water, while 47% voted to remove it.
