Cranbrook Wal-Mart thief caught in Kimberley
A ‘grab and run’ theft at the Cranbrook Wal-Mart earlier today has ended with the thief being tracked down in Kimberley.
On Thursday, January 7, Cranbrook RCMP received a call about a theft from Wal-Mart located on Cranbrook St N.
An unknown male grabbed a computer and ran out the fire exit door of the store. The male jumped into a vehicle and left the area. Employees of the store were able to get the license plate off the vehicle and after extensive patrols by both Cranbrook and Kimberley RCMP, along with the Police Dog Service, the vehicle was stopped in Marysville, Cranbrook RCMP reported.
Two males were arrested on scene with one transported back to Cranbrook. A 23-year-old Kimberley resident will remain in custody to appear before the courts. The second male, also from Kimberley, was released after being given a future court date.
