A Cranbrook parent this morning contacted e-KNOW with a message and a photo showing a school zone safety sign damaged by a vehicle allegedly being driven by someone distracted by their cell phone.

“This is what happened to our poor Safety Suzi after someone on a cell phone wasn’t paying attention in a school zone. Unfortunately, this is the second time this year she has been hit on 11th Avenue! Please, please, please remember to SLOW DOWN to 30 km/h and get off your phone! This easily could have been a child! So scary!” Stated Amy Dumas in a Facebook message.

Safety Suzi is used by Amy Woodland Elementary School as an extra alert to drivers to slow down and be aware that they are in a school zone.
