Doctor shortage forcing changes to emergency hours

Sparwood and area residents are advised of changes to emergency department hours at the health centre in Sparwood for the month of May due to limited physician availability.

Hours of operation are normally seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Please note adjusted Emergency Department hours on the following days:

Thursday, May 2 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday, May 3: – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 4 – CLOSED

Sunday, May 5 – CLOSED

Thursday, May 9 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Monday, May 13 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, May 14 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, May 21 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday, May 24 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 25 – CLOSED

Sunday, May 26 – CLOSED

Monday, May 27 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, May 28 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents should take note of the following if they require care when the emergency department is closed:

In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Residents should proceed to the emergency department in Fernie.

If individuals are unsure about what services they require, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1. 
The toll-free line provides 24-hour, confidential health information and advice from a registered nurse.
