Driver faces charges after hitting A&W
A Kamloops man faces a number of charges including impaired driving after hitting the Kimberley A&W on Friday (Sept. 21).
At about noon police were called to the restaurant after a driver ordered and received his food from the drive through and then stuck the building as he departed.
Upon attendance the officer noted a number of signs of alcohol consumption and read the breath demand. The driver was returned to the detachment where he gave two breath samples (190 and 210 mgs), which is 2.5 times the legal limit.
A search of the vehicle found several alcohol containers, some full, others empty. In addition, marijuana along with a pipe was seized. There was strong evidence of marijuana consumption as well. It’s believed the driver was under the influence of both marijuana and alcohol.
The driver was also prohibited from driving, so in addition to the impaired charge he is facing charges of Drive while Prohibited. His vehicle has been impounded and he was served a 90 day Administrative Driving Prohibition.
It is very fortunate that nobody was injured in the incident.
