It’s the new centerpiece of downtown Elkford.

It’s been a labour of love and it is an example of what can be done when there is will, passion and determination.

The Elkford Community Conference Centre has risen from the ashes of the old school, a phoenix given wings by the generosity of Teck, the support of Columbia Basin Trust and ‘the digging deep’ by a host of other Elkford and Elk Valley businesses, organizations and, of course, residents.

Now at long last the community is set to officially open the most unique community hall in the Kootenays – a one of a kind building that needs to be seen to be believed.

The District of Elkford is holding a grand opening of the Elkford Community

Conference Centre on Thursday, June 21. There is a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. and an open house from 3 to 7 p.m.
“We are ready to bear-it-all and showcase our state of the art facility,” the district notes on its website.
