Erratic fluctuations force boil water to remain

Despite a recent ‘fair’ reading, the City of Kimberley is maintaining a Boil Water Notice for all residents, issued Friday, May 23, because of erratic fluctuations in turbidity levels in the watershed.

Sloughing of banks in the watershed is causing higher turbidity levels in the spring runoff, the city reported earlier today on Facebook.

Recent testing shows water quality is ‘fair’ but the city is expecting the readings to fluctuate erratically and will be leaving the Boil Water Notice in effect even though at this time the readings are in the fair category.

The city continually monitors the turbidity levels and posts the average daily reading on it’s website – Kimberley.ca.

The Turbidity Index has three levels of water quality readings – Good, Fair and Poor. All users are to boil their water when the water quality is Poor.

If you would like to monitor the readings yourself each day please check the Turbidity Index HERE every weekday after 2:30 p.m.

If you have any questions please contact the City of Kimberley at 250-427-9660.
