Cranbrook Professional Firefighters, Local 1253 had the pleasure Jan. 28 of meeting with former Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka.

Tom was presented with a personalized helmet in recognition of his work and attention in advocating for B.C. firefighter issues throughout his years as MLA.

In addition to numerous worthwhile causes, Shypitka helped advocate for firefighter’s mental health resources and policy, and went above and beyond in putting forward a private member’s bill in the legislative assembly.

An overdue but sincere thank you Tom, and all the best in your future endeavors.
