Freezing Rain Warning

If the recent snowfall isn’t enough to catch your attention, the most recent warning from Environment Canada ought to do the trick.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the southern East Kootenay, including Kimberley, Wasa and Cranbrook.

“Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Conditions will remain favourable for freezing rain over southern sections of the East Kootenay for the remainder of today. The freezing rain or snow is expected to taper off late this afternoon,” Environment Canada reported earlier today (Jan. 6).

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces,”
 Environment Canada meteorologists reported.
