Fund established for injured boy
A six-year-old Fernie boy is in the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary with major head injuries after he was struck by a truck yesterday.
Because of the extent of his injuries, his parents must remain in Calgary and a large financial burden is developing.
As a result, a family friend has established a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for the family.
“Up until yesterday, Ryder was living his life like any normal six-year-old would… It’s amazing how fast things can change and how quickly your life can be turned upside down,” the fund descriptor begins.
“Unfortunately this little guy was hit by a truck causing him to have some major injuries including a fractured skull and some bleeding around his brain. For now he is in stable condition and being cared for at the Children’s Hospital. We can only hope for the best and a speedy recovery.
“This was very unexpected and will effect them all dramatically. Matt, Lindsay and Ryder live in Fernie and were flown to Calgary. At this point they don’t know how long they will be here but with this type of injury, I’m assuming quite awhile. They are going to need a lot of love, support and prayers. Financially this is also going to be hard on them as they will have expenses not only in Calgary but also B.C., not to mention any type of extra medical treatment needed for Ryder.
“I am asking you to please help and donate to this family. This is going to be an extremely long, tough road for them to recover from. Any amount would be wonderful and so helpful! And whatever is not used will be donated to the Children’s Hospital. Thank you!”
