Fundraising continues for Cranbrook family
A Cranbrook family received community support from a fundraising project conducted last weekend and from ongoing efforts.
Dylan Paige Rae, born in April with Gastroschisis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastroschisis) has been in hospital in Calgary since she was born.
Soon after she was born, her parents started a Facebook page ‘Praying for Poop- Updates and Support for Dylan Rae’ and word has gotten out that the family is in need.
A Cranbrook company caught wind of the family’s situation and as of last weekend Ultimate Fundraising Inc. has raised $7,000.
“Fundraisers are continuing for the Rae Family,” noted Ultimate Fundraising Inc.’s Pat Van Hesteren.
Selling first aid kits for $15 with $5 from each kit donated to the Rae family, Van Hesteren said a weekend blitz (Sept. 20-22) brought the figure up from $1,250 raised.
While noting Ultimate Fundraising Inc. (UFI) is a national company, Van Hesteren said, “It is important to help out locally as well.”
Schools can also get involved with UFI.
“Anyone looking to run a healthy fundraiser can contact us and 50 cents from every kit sold will go to the family as well. If a school sells 500 kits Ultimate Fundraising inc. will donate $250 to the Rae Family,” he explained.
Alpine Toyota, Arrow Motors and Home Hardware all have kits available to sell.
In addition to Ultimate Fundraising’s efforts, the community has extended help to the family via a couple of events at Dewey’s Pub Sept. 20/21.
There is also a basketball game fundraiser this Saturday, Sept. 29 behind Save-on-Foods.
