On November 11, 2015 at 4:40 a.m., Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services received a 9-1-1 call regarding a fire at Laurie Jr Secondary School located at 1808 2nd Street South in Cranbrook.

Cranbrook RCMP was requested to assist and attended the scene. Arson was suspected as the cause of the fire.

An extensive investigation by the Cranbrook RCMP General Investigation Section led to the arrest of a 14-year-old male who was charged with arson. On February 29, the youth pled guilty in Cranbrook Provincial Court, receiving a one-year intensive support and supervision order.

Cranbrook RCMP would like to thank members of the public for helping ensure that this case came to a successful conclusion.
