Health Unit service impacted due to job action

The Cranbrook Health Unit (Rocky Mountain House) is currently being impacted by job action taken by staff represented by the Community Bargaining Association.

Pickets are expected to continue until 6 p.m.  As a result of this job action, Interior Health has had no choice but to postpone some public health, mental health, primary care and community services.  The following are among the services that will not be available today:

Prevention & Promotion immunizations

Non-essential new baby home visits

Diabetic education visits

Assessments for Home Health services

Occupational and Physical Therapist visits

Mental Health counselling appointments.

The Health Unit remains open during normal operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with limited services in place for clients who need more immediate assistance in areas such as mental health urgent intake, home support services and community care nursing.

Interior Health has contacted affected clients to reschedule appointments where appropriate.

If residents require urgent services provided through the health unit or would like to check on the availability of a specific service on November 14, they are advised to contact the health unit at 250-420-2296.

No patient, client or visitor will be denied access to the health unit during the job action. However, they may experience short delays when driving onto the site.

IH anticipates normal services at the Cranbrook Health Unit will resume on Thursday, November 15.
