Injured snowmobiler located by Golden SAR
The Golden Field RCMP Detachment activated Golden Search and Rescue on Saturday March 19, after receiving a SOS GPS Spot Beacon Activation near Golden.
SAR technicians attended that evening and located a female snowmobiler who had injured herself after riding off an embankment.
On Saturday March 19, at around 6:40 p.m., Golden Field RCMP received a report from the International Emergency Response Centre that advised a SOS Spot Beacon Activation had been received near Silent Pass, south of Golden. The initial report gave no indication regarding the nature of the call or how many people were involved. Golden Search and Rescue was activated and attended to the area by helicopter.
At the location they located a group of snowmobilers with an injured party. SAR determined that a 47-year-old female had suffered a non-life threatening injury as a result of going off a 15-foot embankment on a snowmobile. The woman was flown back to Golden by SAR where she was transferred to BC Ambulance and transported to the Golden Hospital.
